These days Lana is pretty much eating what we eat. Here she is eating Lasagna, one of her favorite meals. She also tried Chili for the first time the other night, I didn't expect her to like it, but she did. She also says "yum, yum" all the time, it is so funny. Today I handed her some Cheerio's, which are still a favorite of hers, She started eating them, and said "hmm, hmm, yum" It was hilarious!
Amazed by her own mess I guess :)As I was going through my daily routine today I checked my email account and received an email from an old friend. This family are old family friends of ours, I used to babysit their three boys, and they went to our home Church in Colorado for years. A few years ago they decided to give up there lives in Colorado and move their whole family and life to Haiti to be full time missionaries. As I read her email today I became so aware of how selfish I am and how I worry about worthless little things. I get so caught up in my life and things that I think are hard, when I don't realize how hard some people have it. Today I have been not feeling well and taking care of my one year old daughter, we have been struggling with trying to figure out how we can down size into a smaller apartment to save money, and I am trying to find a new job, as I am losing my job this week because the family I currently babysit for is moving to Atanta for a Pastoral Position. These small little things that won't even matter in a few months, while the family I received the email from is dealing with riots, people are actually starving due to the rising cost of food and fuel. We may complain about rising fuel costs, it does seem ridiculous, but how many times have we actually wondered where our next meal may come from. We have it so easy here in the US, even as Christians. We may get made fun of for our faith, but that is the hardest thing we will ever have to face. It just gave me such a clear perspective of life, and the life of Christians. How can I think that it is hard moving 1200 miles from home to KY to attend seminary, at least we still have all the modern convienences of life, email, phones to keep in touch with family. And so we may have to live in apartments for a few years, this culture focus's so much on material things and how important they are, when we really should be thankful for things like food, and that we live in a country where we don't have to worry about food, water, shelter, clothing, even as a struggling seminary family we have more than we really need to survive. Why do we worry about the small things in life. When I look back at any situation I thought was hard at the time I only see how God worked in our lifes and how much he provided, even when we thought it wouldn't be possible. In April, this time three years ago I was living in Colorado, Josh was living in Oregon and we were signing a lease for an apartment we had never even seen in Louisville, KY. We were wondering how we could even afford the moving truck to get to KY. Planning on getting married in less than two months, then three weeks after that quiting my good paying full time job, and moving across the country where neither of us even had jobs. How crazy does all of that sound? But looked how everything worked out, it is amazing. I am only sharing all of this to show how amazing God is. Now, we sometimes wonder why God has us at this little country church in Mt. Eden, KY. Then our transmission goes out on our 5 year old car, and the church raised money so that we would be able to get a new transmission. What a loving and caring church family. I am not saying that is why God has us there, but how can I wonder when they are so good to us. Now, if every church gave like this 200 congregation church gives in times of need, there would not be a missionary unsupported. Missionaries are such amazing people to be able to give up everything, move to another country and live a life completely devoted to God, and doing God's work. I, of course am not saying that you have to be a missionary to do that. I just realized today, that we need to be so thankful for those who chose to be missionaries, and we need to be praying for them and supporting them on a daily basis. Sorry this is long and I may have lost a lot of you by now. But I have just been thinking a lot today and I thought I would share some of my thoughts, I am open to any thoughts or opinions too, so please comment. |

As I mentioned in a previous post, Lana and I went back to Colorado for a week. My sister Juli is getting married in June. So we threw her a Bridal shower, she actually had two while Lana and I were out there. It was nice to be able to be a part of them. Lana and a flew to Colorado and Lana did great as always on the plane. Usually she may cry a little, but this time she didn't make a peep either time, I was so proud. Especially since there was a 2 year old two rows ahead of us that SCREAMED the entire time.

Sometimes I just have to take pictures of her sleeping she looks so precious. This picture was particularly funny to me because now she not only has to have a pacifier in her mouth, but also has to be holding another one to sleep, silly girl! 
Since we don't have any family close, we usually don't do anything for Easter. This year the family that I babysit for invited us over, so it was really nice to spend time getting to know them better. The Dad, Aaron, is also in Seminary, and the family is from Oregon, so Josh and Aaron hit it right off, having a lot to talk about. (Since Josh lived in Oregon for two years)
